Systems group

The Systems Group offers support to the various branches during every phase of the project, from design to implementation, where the customer’s business case forms the basis for the most suitable system solution.

The Systems Group consists of the following departments:

  • Simulation Group; in order to comprehend the complexity of material handling systems and to test the chosen solutions, the Simulation Group extensively analyses a system’s operation and performance. The system solution is simulated with the aid of a computer model and the results are then analysed.

This department employs academics with a logistics background. The work is carried out in project teams and a project can last from a couple of weeks to well over a year. This work environment is a real challenge for your intellect!

  • Proposal Verification & Pricing (PV&P) Group; value for money, a return on investment, a transparent cost structure, a clear view of opportunities and threats. The PV&P offers support to all the processes within Vanderlande Industries in order to be able to guarantee the organization’s competitive position and continuity.

The PV&P group combines various specific disciplines. Managing opportunities and threats together with cost calculations requires good engineering skills and thorough financial knowledge. It is a challenging work environment which requires technical, commercial and financial insight and where common sense is essential.

  • System Concepting and Business Development Group; (re)defining logistics and system concepts. What will the markets be like in 5 or even 20 years time and which innovations should we offer these markets? Besides supporting the sales offices in the purchasing phase and even in the phase before that, the group studies the customer’s future wishes. Close cooperation with Research & Development ensures that our future products meet the future wishes of our customers. This is a work environment which combines experience and creativity with a vision.

Not only is the system design essential within this department, but so is understanding the world of our customers. As logistics consultants, the employees support the customer centres in drawing up quotations for our customers or they produce a blueprint for a customised system. New developments in the market are not only followed, but are also initiated by this group. It may be clear that not only knowledge of, but also proven experience in system design and the ability to come up with logistics solutions for the material handling industry are required. It is a work environment which combines experience and creativity with a vision.

The Systems Group works with almost every department in the organisation. The first objective is to support the customer centres. Innovation is a very important aspect, so cooperation with Research & Development is essential. Close cooperation with the Operations project teams when realising solutions and advising the Sales department ensures Vanderlande’s success.

The Systems Group employees regularly travel abroad. This usually occurs on an ad hoc basis when it is necessary to support and advise colleagues or customers throughout the world. The business trips can last from a day to a longer period of time.
