Experiences

  • "My name is Harm Hopmans. I am 23 years old and am currently studying and working part-time at Vanderlande for a period of 2 years. This means that I go to college two days a week and work at Vanderlande for the other three days of the week. I am doing a higher vocational education course in electrical engineering at the Avans Hogeschool in Breda. I am also currently working as a controls development engineer in the research and development department. My course includes a graduation thesis assignment which I do at Vanderlande. This assignment consists of producing a generation tool with which part of a SCADA can be generated and actually producing a SCADA for a project in Finland. Both parts of this assignment have now been completed and I have learned a great deal from them. The various aspects which I had to deal with during my assignment were all new for me, but despite that, I managed to get through this period quite well, partly thanks to the tutoring I received from Vanderlande. After my graduation thesis assignment, I can probably continue working as a controls development engineer at Vanderlande."

  • "For my Business Administration course at the Rotterdam School of Management, I, Jitske Fastenau, completed a graduation thesis project at Vanderlande Industries. Through consultation, I eventually chose a problem in the service supply chain department. At Vanderlande, it is possible to negotiate with your supervisors about a suitable topic so that it meets your own wishes and those of the company. My assignment was to look at the lifecycle evaluation of suppliers. I completed my assignment internally."

"At Vanderlande, you are immediately accepted into the department. Vanderlande has a flat organizational structure and asking questions is appreciated. Employees and managers like to help you in your thinking process. This definitely benefits the final result of your thesis and is good preparation for your first job. I eventually got a job at Vanderlande within the corporate service department. After two years, I still really enjoy working within the dynamic world of service at Vanderlande Industries."

  • "My name is Boudewijn Brosens and in the spring of 2008, I had a work placement at Vanderlande Industries in the IT department. This work placement was to be the completion of my Hoger Informatica (IT) course at the Fontys Hogeschool in Eindhoven.During the Fontys career day, Vanderlande Industries aroused my interests with their product. This company makes a nice product. During my graduation thesis period, I was mainly concerned with optimizing the IT help desk processes in the head office in Veghel. I was also asked to set up the support processes for the baggage system in Terminal 5 of London Heathrow airport. This experience of a couple of weeks abroad was decisive for me in deciding to apply for a job at Vanderlande after the thesis period."

"I have now been working in the service development department for 1½ years as a service development engineer. In this job, I am mainly concerned with the technical improvement of and support for service products and service processes. Vanderlande is a good company with an excellent culture to work in. Even as a work placement student, you have a lot of responsibility. If you can handle that, then it gives you a lot of opportunities to show what you are all about."
